What Is Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) ?
- A
test that measure body's ability to handle certain amount of glucose in fasting
Uses Of Test :
- Detecting gestational diabetes
- Differentiate between prediabetic and
diabetic patient .
How is this
test done ?
- At least 8 hours Fasting is required .
- Fasting Sample is taken
- Patient Is given certain amount of glucose .
- Samples are collected aftet 1 hour & 2 hour

Is any
Instruction given before the test ?
- patient should have 8 hours fasting
- For gestational diabetes , test Should be
performed between 24 - 28 weeks of gestation .
How is this
test Interpreted ?
- For Diabetics Fasting Blood glucose > 125
mg/dl .
- After 2 hours > 200 mg/dl .
- For gestational Fasting glucose > 92 mg/dl
.
- At 1 hours > 180 mg/dl .
- After 2 hours > 153 mg/dl .
